Massage & Energy Work
Our Complementary Care Program offers a variety of massage techniques and energy practices to its participants. Massage Techniques support the cancer experience by reducing stress, anxiety and pain, improving sleep and attitude and, as some studies are showing, our immune function.
Healing Touch is an evidence-based modality used by nurses (more than 30,000 in the U.S.) in hospital settings as well as private practitioners. Surgical hospitals report a reduction in healing time post-operatively in clients who utilize Healing Touch. People have used this practice as an effective treatment for pain control, wound/fracture healing, anxiety and cancer issues. Healing Touch can be used to create positive affirmations and a sense of well-being.
Quantum Energetics is a blend of ancient healing principles and modern quantum theories. Using Applied Kinesiology (muscle testing) and non-invasive touch QE can relieve a number of discomforts and physical issues. Users report relief from pain, expedited injury healing, improved immune response, decreased blood pressure, toxin elimination, and improved circulatory, digestive and endocrine function.
Reiki is a very gentle hands-on form of body work. It is used to create balance and harmony within the body, mind and spirit. Reiki can reduce negative effects from invasive medical treatments/procedures, give support through emotional/mental changes, lower tension and blood pressure and expedite healing from injury or illness.
One of our providers offers the “Prepare for Surgery (Chemo/Radiation) and Heal Faster Program”. This is another evidence-based mind/body technique that creates calm before surgery, a reduction in post-operative pain, a reduction in side-effects of chemotherapy, faster recovery and a stonger immune system.
